During a recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying the avocado toast, which was generously piled with ripe avocado atop perfectly toasted artisan bread—a simple yet satisfying choice. The cinnamon roll, although delicious, was slightly on the sweeter side for my palate, reminding me of a malasada, but it still hit the spot. It’s an adventure to navigate the bustling atmosphere, especially with a line often snaking out the door, but the anticipation only adds to the charm of the experience.

For those looking for something more savory, Momona offers an impressive selection of sandwiches, including the standout breakfast sandwich and the delightful Caprese. Each sandwich is crafted with care, using quality ingredients that make each bite worthwhile. You might also want to explore their selection of smoothies, such as the vibrant Superfruit and refreshing Sunshine, which are perfect for a quick pick-me-up.

The ambiance is equally inviting, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely breakfast or brunch date. Although parking can be limited and prices may be slightly higher than other local spots, the overall experience—filled with friendly service and mouthwatering food—is worth every penny. Momona Bakery and Coffee Shop located in Kahului, Maui serves freshly baked pastries daily and also offers coffees, smoothies, sandwiches, salads and toasts. The head baker and owner is from Argentina so Momona features her medialunas - the Argentinian version of croissants. The cafe is pretty big with lots of seating and even a private room inside an old vault! I had the avocado toast and it was loaded with avocado on top of the best toasted bread. I also indulged in the cinnamon roll which was great, but the outside was little too sugary - kind of like a malasada- for my taste. Be prepared for limited parking and a long line, but they are worth a try!

The medialuna pastry here was soooo good I had to get one to go! So incredibly soft and fluffy and melted in my mouth! Paired really well with a cup of hot coffee. A good amount of seating inside for a coffee shop and bakery.

Cute bakery spot located near the harbor. Lines can be long and food items can be pretty pricey. A good experience to try at least once if you're visiting, definitely a touristy spot. Not a place many local families would visit often as there are other bakeries that are less expensive and still have good quality pastries. Parking is limited and one way around the shop. We tried a few items. My favorite items were the pastry cream croissant and cheesecake (most favorite!). The croissants were nice size and tasty, worth the price. I also tried the iced mocha, it was just ok.

Decided to kick off a day with my daughter here. This is such a cute, comfy place for a relaxing breakfast. It is very popular and busy! But the line goes quickly and the service is fast. It's hard to choose because everything looks so yummy. They also have a good selection of day old pastries for half price. We tried the ham and cheese croissants, cinnamon roll, almond croissant, and matcha tea. Everything was so GOOD! We'll definitely be back to try more things on their menu.

We popped into Momona Bakery for the first time this morning. It was packed with a line wrapped around the entrance. We took that as a good sign and waited patiently as we slowly made our way up to the counter area where you can see the pastries and dessert case. There was a rack with yesterday's pastries on sale for $3.50. I loved that idea, but this was our first time so we decided to try today's goods. There were so many beautiful things to choose from. Presentation is on point. I opted for the fruit tart and an iced latte. I added white chocolate syrup to it. My boyfriend got a vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich (bacon, avocado, etc). The fruit tart was really good. Not too sweet even with the custard at the bottom. It was a little messy with the powdered sugar and flaky croissant but it's to be expected. My white chocolate latte was also very tasty. My boyfriend gave the breakfast sandwich a 6/10 and said his vanilla latte had a burnt taste to it. Still, nothing went to waste. The decor is really cute, open and light. I look forward to trying other things.

As others have said, THEE cutest cafe. We went about 30 minutes after opening on a Saturday morning and were probably the 4th group there. Only a few minutes later, the line was basically to the door - very popular place for good reason. All the pastries are beautiful, which matches the building. Looks like an old bank, but the design is simple and clean with plenty of seating everywhere. Part of me wished I would be able to go there during a workday! I got a latte to pair with my lilikoi croissant and the bf got a double shot espresso and a cinnamon roll. Both delicious. As a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, my bf likes to say the quality of espresso is a reflection of the coffee made and he gave it a 10/10. Can't wait to be back!

Maui's main town area, known as Kahului, is not huge. The main area is centered around a Whole Foods Market and the drug store next door. Across the street, is a nice coffee spot called Momona Coffee and Bakery. It's super cute inside, and the staff is helpful. However, I wouldn't suggest coming here to relax. When we visited, the line to order was 20 minutes long on a Sunday morning around 930am. It is, though, next to the cruise port as well, and less than 5 minutes from the end of the pedestrian walkway from the ship, which may have contributed to the lengthy line. Since they stay busy, they give loud buzzers that beep incessantly when your order is ready. The line can be shorter at later times in the day, and on Monday morning around 10am it was closer to 10 minutes. We also came later just before close on Sunday - there was no line then, and were still very accommodating. All that said, coffee/espresso was solid, lattes were great (and yes, they have oat milk), and so, so many pastries. I got the alfajores, an Argentinian dulce de leche cookie sandwich: both the traditional and the chocolate versions. The traditional alfajor wins hands-down. Keep note of their hours: they close at 4pm daily during the week, and a bit earlier on the weekends.

Such an adorable coffee shop! We happened upon Momona while we were waiting for some friends to arrive at the airport and needed a caffeine fix but were immediately enticed by the gorgeous display of baked goods staring at us as we waited in line. The croissants are massive and definitely shareable! We ordered a breakfast sandwich and lilikoi croissant, and between my husband, myself, and our toddler, we just barely managed to scarf it down. The lilikoi croissant had the perfect balance of sweet and tart and was perfect with an earthy matcha latte. Plenty of seating inside if you want to hang out or take your goods to go.

We stopped here on our last day on the way to the airport. This bakery is a bit off the path if you are staying in West Maui, but it's definitely worth a visit. For dine-in, we ordered the lilikoi croissant, chicken empanada, and medialuna. The chicken empanada was just okay, with not much flavor in the filling. However, the lilikoi croissant had a good tart flavor that really activates your taste buds. The medialuna had a nice honey aftertaste throughout the dough, making it a perfect pairing for a cup of coffee. We also took a few items for takeout: a coconut roll, another lilikoi croissant, and a chocolate croissant. We enjoyed them the next day after reaching home. The chocolate croissant had a dark chocolate coating with rich chocolate cream inside, giving a nice bittersweet taste. The coconut roll had a crispy texture even on the second day, with a delightful coconut flavor. The atmosphere in the cafe is casual, perfect for enjoying your coffee with some delicious pastries.

WHOOOOOOO BOYYYY! Was not quite expecting this spot to be so dang good! Stopped in before my long drive to Haleakala National Park. Needed some good coffee and some food to get me started. I ordered their smoked salmon toast with an iced coffee. Expect a line, but the service was fast and very friendly. Looks like an average coffee shop we have all seen before. Well, this place isn't just any coffee shop. Coming from a smoked salmon conoseuere (kidding, but I eat it all the time), I LOVED IT. I have to say.. It's one of the best items I ate while in Maui overall. Ratio of smoked salmon, what seems like handmade bread lightly toasted, shmear, and veggies HIT. Their pastries look spot on and can tell everything is handmade. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
